PSE&G NJ Is a PSEG Utility Company

Public Service Electricity and Gas, better known as PSE&G, is one of New Jersey's largest utilities, serving nearly three-fourths of the state's energy consumers. This electricity and natural gas utility is under the umbrella of Public Service Enterprise Group, or PSEG for short, which is a diversified energy holding company. Along with PSE&G, PSEG owns: PSEG Power, an electricity generation company; PSEG Long Island, a Long Island utility; and PSEG Services, a company that focuses on a variety of practices, including business operations and human resources for PSEG's other companies. PSE&G in NJ offers regulated natural gas and electricity rates on supply along with its energy delivery but also keep in mind that New Jersey energy deregulation has opened the market to third-party retailers with alternative supply options.

Solar 4 All from PSE&G in NJ

PSE&G is making efforts to incorporate solar power into its energy mix. Its Solar 4 Allâ„¢ program intends to develop 125 megawatts of solar energy to add to the grid. This is enough energy to power 5,000 homes a year. The special part of this solar effort is that PSE&G NJ is installing these solar panels in landfills and brownfields throughout the state. Spaces that would typically be deemed unusable are now hosting clean energy generation thanks to this program.

Understanding New Jersey energy deregulation

A lot of states do not allow consumers a choice in what company they purchase their energy supply from. Consumers in these states must purchase supply from the utility at government-regulated rates. New Jersey energy deregulation, however, allows consumers to choose. PSE&G NJ customers can choose to purchase their supply from this PSEG utility company or find a third-party retailer that offers a competitive supply plan with alternative natural gas or electricity rates. A consumer's assigned utility, such as PSE&G in NJ, remains his or her energy distribution company. He or she will still receive the same reliable energy delivery and continue to pay the regulated natural gas or electricity rates set by the government for distribution service.
